It depends what details you want to see. You can write a log to a text file (see your post of September 29). It might mean coercing lists into strings before you can log them. Another alternative is to use repeated 'display dialog' commands, which you can remove or comment out once you're happy that the droplet is working properly.
For example:
on open (these_items)
set item_count to count these_items
display dialog 'Ouch! You dropped ' & item_count & ' items on me!' buttons {'Cancel','OK'} giving up after 10 with icon caution
end open
This is less than perfect, as you have to make a manual record of what's happening to what. But sometimes (even more so with folder action scripts) it's the only way.
